Star Wars... Origami?
So like, um, yeah...
What's all this about then?
Like it or loathe it, there's no denying that the Star Wars trilogy has had a massive influence on modern culture. The visual images we are presented with during the course of the three films have inspired either directly or indirectly the look of much of the science fiction of the past 20 years. Each of the vehicles or spacecraft we see in the films has become an iconic classic of our time.
Unlike the curves and flowing forms of nature, the harsh lines and angles of man-made objects just cry out to be represented in folded form. Throughout the course of origami history, most of the animal kingdom has been represented in paper one way or another, in most cases far better than I could ever hope to match, so rather than try to compete in an already saturated market, for my first original designs I decided to branch out in a different direction. Being a fan of the Star Wars films, the opportunity to recreate some of these classic design icons seemed to good to pass up, and so, three years later, this website is here to showcase what followed...
